Can a relationship work when you both disagree?

 

Can a relationship really work when you have vast ideological differences?
OPINION: Whenever it's election season, couples end up going one of two ways.
Either both partners in a couple will support one political party gung-ho, and what its leader "will do for the country" becomes nightly dinnertime conversation. Or, politics are a no-go zone, because it's an accepted but fraught issue because you don't see ideologically eye-to-eye.

I'm of the belief that relationships with those who have dramatically different opinions to you can only be short-lived.
Sure, it's fine to disagree on ice cream flavours or Netflix shows for the next 30 years.
